Seasports is more than just a dive company - it's a dive family! Many customers have been scuba diving in Grand Cayman with Seasports for generations. Their children and friends learned to dive with Seasports. In fact, there are sometimes three generations of divers on the boat! It is that loyalty and camaraderie that makes diving with Seasports a special experience. A relaxed atmosphere with attention to safety and dive comfort keeps our customers returning, year after year.
| Seasports is the longest-running, independent Grand Cayman scuba diving operator with a safety record that is unmatched. When Butch Sjostrom started Seasports in 1974, there were only four operations on the island. There were no dive buoys or formal dive sites back then, but that did not stop Butch. He located many of the sites we dive today. Many divers still recount stories and have fond memories of Butch.
| Greg and Karen Jacobs purchased Seasports in 2006 and continued the tradition of excellent diving, combined with first-class customer service. Greg's enthusiasm for diving and his laid-back attitude are still talked about. Karen's homemade cookies, amazing photos and southern charm completed the diving duo. They set a standard of service that is unmatched in Grand Cayman.
| Jim Soda started with Seasports in October 2007 and knew right away that it was a special operation with fantastic customers, combined with world-class diving. When Greg and Karen decided to move back to the U.S. in 2008, there was only one option for Jim: to buy Seasports and continue the tradition of unparalleled diving, first-class customer service and safety, always in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Jim's first experience with diving was an intro diving course in Grand Cayman, New Years 1989. He promptly completed his open water five months later and started to explore many of the Caribbean's dive spots, including Cozumel, Roatan, St. Lucia, St. Martin, Turks and Caicos and Costa Rica. After becoming an instructor in 2006, Jim decided to see the world and traveled throughout Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Vanuatu, Fiji and Europe. Now he has come full circle to where it all started.
Jim is from Windsor, Ontario, Canada where the diving was too cold for his taste. Jim ran a successful computer consulting business for 12 years before deciding to lose the long pants (trousers for the Brits). He now loves teaching new divers and finding and pointing out those beautiful little creatures that many divers miss while looking for eagle rays.
